Managing an illness is difficult. These resources are here to guide you through the steps you should take and the resources available to you.
You have access to a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Health Advocate, at no added cost to you.
Health Advocates can help:
- Guide you through a new diagnosis.
- Find a doctor or specialist and get you an appointment.
- Talk to a BCBSTX clinician about health questions.
- Answer benefit questions or solve a problem with a claim or a bill.
- Get personal assistance with your health care matters.
In situations where specialized care is not available locally, you can call a BCBSTX Health Advocate and ask to be considered for travel assistance. You may be eligible for up to $10,000 in travel assistance. Pre-approval through BCBSTX is required. More information is available in the Employee Benefits Handbook.
MDLIVE is a service through BCBSTX that provides medical consultation via phone (telemedicine) for acute health issues such as cold/flu symptoms. MDLIVE is available 24/7. They may even write and send prescriptions to a nearby pharmacy (when appropriate).
